Herman Morat


M. lived in Riga, Latvia, where he published several books in Yiddish, such as "Idn in di baltishe mlukhut"., "Humoristish-satirishe karikaturn", "Der veybersher gulm", "Hartz un neshama", "Idish blut", "Di kroyn fun lekn" and "Der idisher hoyker", also in German -- "Der mentshn-freynt" and in Russian -- "Dos itstike lebn in rusland".

Furthermore M. published his "Nkmh far idn! Oder di klh fun idishn folk. A bild fun der idisher folk[s] neshama in 4 acts. Riga 1926" [p. 92], "Lenin af yener velt, a muzikalishe feerye in eyn akt, Riga 1927"  [p. 11] and "Di shlang, a tragedy of our lives in three acts and six scenes" in [ineveynikstn ] title page: dramatic play in three one-acters, Riga 1927, p. 28].

Moshe Shalit dedicated to M. a special article in "LIt. bleter", in which he wrote among other things: "Mr. Morat's "work" must be [kyualifitsirn] in a department of psychopathology, soft-spoken and unrelated, available [opteylungen] in a bibliographic yearbook. [Gevv?s aiz registratsye] to qualification?, but in the [dringenst faln muz men oykh makhn di geherike bamerkungen oder shteln di batrefndike keplekh un ?fshr take eynfi?n di noytike klamern un unter-opteylungen".
