Moshe Moshkovitsh

 

M. was born on 22 January (A. S.) 1886 in Rogotshov, Mohilev Gubernia, Ukraine. His father was a tailor.

Singing in the choir in the synagogue, M. also used to get along by singing in the Yiddish theatre. In 1908 M. entered into Sam Adler's group in Yekaterinoslav, debuting as "Nisl shreyer" in Zolotarevsky's "Yeshiva bukher". Here he acted until 1910.

In 1910-11 M. acted in a member's troupe in Russia under the leadership of Doktorov.

In 1911-12 he returned to Sam Adler.

From 1912-17 he was in a member's troupe with Libert and Veysman across Russia, and in 1917 he was with Bezman in Kiev.

In 1918 he was in the first cooperative operetta troupe in Russia under the leadership of Samberg, in 1920-21 in Turkey.

In 1921 he was in Vienna on the Rolland stage (Rolandbühne), and in 1922 he was in Berlin and in the same year traveled to Paris, where he has acted until today.
