Mordechai Perlmuter
 

 

P. was born on 25 January 1888 in Ludmir, Volin, into a rich, myukhsidiker family. He received a religious and a secular education.

In 1905 he arrived in Warsaw and became enamored with the Freedom Movement, and became an "rewriter" with his veytn near Y. L. Peretz.

He immigrated to America in 1906, and here in 1909 began to publish songs, especially in the "Fraye arbayter shtime".

In 1922 he released a volume entitled "Lider fun gloybn".

According to Sh. Yanovski, P. was engaged in America as a house-painter.

P. in "Fraye arbayter shtime" of 29 May and 5 June 1909 there was published a translation of the one-act "A Clown", a play in one act by A. Kuprin.
