According to Jacob Mestel, S. was of the type of "undelivered" Yiddish intelligence. He was a humorist and manifested a fine acting skill, but, due to a physical disability, was not able to make any acting career.

According to Leah Weintraub-Graf, he was the life spirit of the troupe and had many times helped her in her development.
