Ruth Taru
(Reyzl Tukhmakher)

T. was born in 1906 in Warsaw, Poland, to progressive parents. Her father was a metal worker, active in the "Bund" under the pseudonym of "Leybush Metalovitsh".

She learned in a middle school, which she didn't finish because of material reasons. She worked in an office and through her acquaintance with David Herman in 1926, she entered into his dramatic studio, but already after two weeks she debuted in Siedlce and soon thereafter performed in the "Azazel" Theatre in Warsaw.

In 1927 she acted for a season in "Vi"kt" and afterwards with the Vilna Troupe.
