T. was born on 16 August 1887 in Rogova, Lithuania. His father was a ritual slaughterer. As a child he learned from his father and until bar-mitzvah.

From his grandfather he later in the Rameylit yeshiva in Vilna, in a small house of study in Kovno and in the end became an extern in Vilna.

Due to military service he went away to America and there tried various trades. On the way back to Russia he stopped off in London, where he had in 1907 begun to act as an "amateur" in Arbeter-fraynt-klub (Worker's Friend Club) under the direction of Samuel Goldenburg.

Until 1911 he acted as an "amateur", then became a professional actor. He acted in the Pavilion Theatre together with Adler, then across to the English province, Germany and Switzerland, until in 1914 he went to Paris, where he, due to the war, remained and acted until today.

T. was the founder of the Yidish arbeter fareyn (Jewish Worker's Union) in Paris and its first president.
