Lisa Tuchman
(Keydan)

 

T. was born on 15 August 1891 in Dvinsk, Latvia. Her parents were owners of a [bakaley] shop.

At the age of three she came with her parents to Odessa. She learned privately. From childhood on she excelled with a beautiful voice and performed in children's- and young roles with Sabsey.

At the age of seventeen she came with her mother, a widow, to America and she was taken into Kopelman's in vaudeville. Later she acted in legitimate theatre in the Odeon Theatre and toured across the province, acting a season with Krohner in Toronto, a short time in Detroit, some seasons with Thomashefsky in New York's National Theatre, with Gabel, two seasons in the Lyric, a season in the Liberty, two seasons in the Lenox, single seasons in the Prospect Theatre, in Newark, 1927-8 in Philadelphia with Thomashefsky, 1930 in California, 1931-2 in New York's Amphion, and Lyric Theatres. In 1932 she was in the Gaiety Theatre.
