Helena Velish
(Inventarzsh)

She was born in 1907 in Grochov, near Warsaw, Poland.

Her father was an estate lessee(?)

Later she moved to Warsaw.

She began her stage career by traveling with the provincial troupe under the direction of Chaim Sandler across Poland, and continued since then with the Yiddish theatre.

"During the Second World War--she went over to Jonas Turkow--to his house, where the Zandbergs [actor-family] had lived [in Warsaw] on Shvientoyerska 18, incidentally in the house where the actors Shlomo Kutner, Itzhak Inventarzsh, and his sister Helena Velish lived who, whilst in the Warsaw Ghetto an [German] incendiary bomb had fallen and destroyed the Zandbergs' apartment. They were all just found in a cellar, and they had escaped death--but unfortunately temporarily."

In 1942 H. was observed on the "Umshlagplatz" in Warsaw and afterwards destroyed by the Nazis.

Sh. E. from her brother Itzhak Inventarzsh.
