Born on 5 June 1886 in Vilna, Polish Lithuania. Father -- owner of a travel agency. As a child she learned Tenach and Hebrew, then completed a progymnasium, a middle school, and at age twenty-one a dental institute in Kiev.

As a child she "presented" herself and created various types. At age sixteen she participated in "amateur" productions together with Bertanov, Molsky et al. In 1910 she participated in the "amateur" productions under the leadership of Ben-Ami and Peretz Hirshbein

1915 -- being in Russia, W. participated in Russian "amateur" productions. In 1920 W. left her profession and traveled to Kovno, where she took part in several Yiddish productions, 1921 -- she acted in "Yiddish artistic theatre" in Berlin (leader -- Azro), then she went with that troupe on a tour across the large centers of Germany, Belgium, Holland, France and England. 1923-25 -- acted with the Vilna Troupe in New York and across the American province and Canada, and she participated in New York's Unzer Theatre. 1926-28 -- acted in the "New Yiddish Theatre" in Riga, and in 1929-30 -- she toured with A. Stein's branch of the Vilna Troupe.
