Ida Vysotsky
 

V. was born in September 1903 in Slonim, Grodno Gubernia, Polish Lithuania, into a working family.

She completed a Yiddish school, a four-class gymnasium, and Yiddish pedagogical courses. In 1920 V. became a teacher in a kindergarten.

V. also performed on stage after as a child in the school productions, later as a student of the pedagogical course -- with "amateurs", afterwards participating for four years in a studio in Minsk, and helped transform the studio into "Vim"t", remaining there as part of its staff.
