1931-1969
 

Malvina Yoles-Gimpel
 

 

Born on 3 June 1900 in Lemberg, Galicia.

She completed a birger (citizen) school.

At age four or five she sung in the local temple and through the choir leader was taken into the Lemberg Yiddish theatre (Dir.-- Gimpel), where she rose very rapidly to become a prima donna.

Besides in Lemberg Y. also acted in Galicia and Rumania and guest-starred in Poland (Lodz, in the Grand Theatre) and also the [Rand] areas.

Y. married Dr. Mauritsi Gimpel, a son of Emil Gimpel, the current director of the theatre in Lemberg, where she acts until today.

According to Yoel Spiegel, Y. also acted in dramatic roles and sung in the theatre chorus before she came into the temple chorus.
