Odessa State Yiddish Theatre

Soon as the Soviet might took Odessa, it organized a Yiddish state theatre.  One of the main organizers of the theatre was Shachne Epstein. Y. Bertanov was appointed as regisseur. The makeup of the theatre was old: a part of Fishzon's troupe with Misha Fishzon at its head, with several older actors from various old Yiddish theatres, and Bertanov with his wife.

The theatre existed until the Soviet might left Odessa. At the start of 1920, when the Soviet might returned to Odessa, the theatre renewed its activities, but only for a short time: due to hunger, the prominent actors had scattered.
