A Summer's Journey to
Europe and the Middle East

INTRODUCTION EXHIBITION

This exhibition would not be possible without the
generosity of Henry Nathanson's granddaughter
Merle Kastner of Montreal, Canada.

In the summer of 1913, Henry Nathanson accompanied his parents on a grand tour of Europe and the Middle East. Being the prolific photographer that he was, he took many photos of the people and historic sites that he visited. First a visit to England and France, and then on to Palestine, Egypt, Syria, Turkey, Greece, Romania (the country of his birth), and lastly to Vienna, Austria. In this exhibition you will be privy to nearly one-hundred and forty photographs taken by Henry Nathanson nearly a century ago, not long before the world would be turned topsy-turvy by the advent of the first of two world wars.
