Holocaust Memorials of Canada
Coming Winter 2006

INTRODUCTION

Canada became the new home for many immigrants who had fled the pogroms and strife of two world wars. The majority of those who came were Ashkenazim from Eastern Europe, many of whom were Holocaust survivors, but others were Sephardim who came later from countries in North Africa and the Middle East.

Today the Jewish population in Montreal itself numbers over 100,000 strong.
