Sonia was born on 15 August 1899 in Vilna, Polish Lithuania. Her father was a small merchant.

She completed a Russian primary school in Vilna, and from there her parents took her with them to Yekaterinoslav.

In 1918 she performed in the chorus of the troupe of Brandesko and Braslavsky. From there she went over Kris[?] to Constantinople, where she married the actor Peter Amatin, and in 1922, when they arrived in Vienna, her husband organized a troupe in which she began to act in roles.

Undertaking several tours across the provinces of Romania, she was engaged in 1927 to speak in Czernowitz. From there [she went] to Itsikl Goldberg in Bucharest. Afterwards she acted in other troupes in Romania, and later in other Yiddish communities.

According to the "Yizkor-Reshime (Yizkor List)" [as found] in the program of the State Yiddish Theatre in Poland, Sonia was killed at the hands of the Nazis.
