Z. was born on 30 May 1897
in Lodz, Poland. His father was a weaver. He began his
theatre activity at the same time as his brother David.
He used to travel across the province with itinerant
troupes. According to Jacob Moshkovitsh the difference
between the two brothers bashtenen in dem,
was that David himself mergeveynlekher voice and Moshe -- as an
actor.
In 1919 Z. came to Berlin
and there acted in Yiddish theatre and in more German
cities. In 1921 he was engaged to Fanny Vaksman in Paris
and there he remained for several years, then he
returned to Germany and again there acted in Yiddish
theatre, but when in 1933 he could no longer act in
Yiddish theatre, he returned to Paris and acted under
the direction of Lekhtiger and in other troupes, part-time
with his brother David.
In 1938 he acted with
Maurice Schwartz in Paris in Prager's "Vasertregen ("The
Water Carrier") and in other plays.
During the Nazi Occupation
of Paris, he endured at home, but at a time, a day
earlier, in 1941, he was taken in by the Germans and
sent away to Drancy and from there to Auschwitz.
From there, according to the
saved actor Blumenzon had seen him before he
had been killed.
His son Fred (born 26
November 1922) was arrested in 1942 during a visit to his mother, the
actress Erna Zeyderman, who was lying in a hospital.
More about him is not known.
