Joseph
Schlossberg was a leader within the union representing the
workers in ACWA, i.e. the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of
America, and was a loyal Socialist. In 1914, a group of
like-minded and progressive members of the UGWU (United
Garment Workers Union) split from this union to form the
ACWA. Schlossberg was the first secretary-treasurer of the
union.
Joseph's wife Anna, pictured above, was Adele Pinski's
niece.
